In this book, you’ll be wrapped up in her ongoing emotional and intellectual excursions with womanhood, anxiety, relationships, social media, body image, and so much more. Her experiences will make you laugh until you cry, yet, never takes away from the immensity of life lessons she is bringing forth. Koul takes on this meaningful endeavor with an expert amount of humor. Her voice is so genuine and enthralling that her first book gives off coffee shop small talk vibes rather than revealing it for what it truly is: a series of essays that explore important struggles of this century and consequently challenges readers to become more informed individuals. Scaachi Koul is one of the most intelligent and introspective authors I’ve read in recent years. As it so happens, I was light-years more excited to read the other two novels I picked up that day but, alas, it was One Day We’ll All Be Dead and None of This Will Matter that truly stole my heart. Though the title seemed a tad morbid initially, it intrigued me and after discovering that the author was a cultural writer for Buzzfeed, I was sold. As I stepped through the double doors of my library this past week, my eye was immediately drawn to this fluorescent cover displayed proudly among the new releases. If that didn’t spark your interest at all then you probably don’t appreciate the power of sarcasm which is the underlying tone of this entire book of essays. If the title of this book didn’t immediately spark your interest, then the modified title, One Day This Will Matter, probably did.
